We finally have a date! May 29th-31st for the final event while we'll be taking signups and running qualifiers as soon as we can all throughout the month. You guys may notice that this announcement is in two parts. We waited as long as possible but we're still hammering out details on prizes and potential sponsors. In the meantime we need to be collecting signups and getting an idea how how many we'll need to accommodate format and bracketing wise. Prizes or not we think the truest reward is just good competition and good friendships.
How it will work
Everything will be online. We will be running qualifier tournaments leading up to the main event throughout May. ONLY the winners of the qualifiers will get a chance to actually play the pros for a chance to win and get a shot at glory and prizes. The entry fee is $10 or FREE if you you've already paid for a pre-launch month with us. There'll be a $100 premium entry fee too to get a shot at the premium level prizes to be revealed and released soon in part 2 of this announcement. We're keeping the $10 entry/members free as an accessible tier if you're primarily motivated by competition only. The premium tier would need a minimum of 10 $100 entrants to be unlocked.
HOWEVER since the the most exciting part of the event is for the average person to get a shot at playing and having a chance to test themselves against the pros or to hang out with them, we're also offering the opportunity to pay to join a casuals event where you will have a guaranteed shot at playing at least a few informal matches with the pros and see how you do :) This will be $20. Right now we dont know how many would be interested in this but we'll play it by ear and see how it goes.
Tournament Format (powered by Bountie)
We'll kick off qualifiers at a minimum of the first 8 entrants depending on how many we get with a cap of 128 maximum on the brackets and a soft cap of 256 players. We'll scale accordingly depending on signups and how fast we get them. All entrants will need to create accounts at bountie.io . Double Elimination is going to be the likely format unless we get more entrants than we can manage, it will allow for some second chances given lag and all but also may provide some exciting "fight out of the losers bracket" stories that even legends like Justin Wong and Daigo would have to go through in their careers
